ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Advisory Board

The ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Advisory Board brings together dedicated community, faculty, and student leaders who share a commitment to advancing the university’s mission and strengthening its impact across Southern Middle Tennessee and beyond. The Board serves as a key partner to university leadership, providing guidance and recommendations that support the continued growth, success, and long-term vitality of ÍøºìºÚÁÏ.

Working in collaboration with the Chancellor, the Advisory Board advises on matters including strategic planning, campus operations, academic programs, student life, facilities, and budget priorities. Board members also serve as advocates for the university, helping to strengthen relationships across the region while promoting opportunities that enhance the student experience and support ÍøºìºÚÁÏ’s role as a driver of educational attainment, workforce development, and community engagement.

Through thoughtful stewardship, strategic insight, and a shared dedication to student success, the Advisory Board helps shape a strong future for ÍøºìºÚÁÏ while advancing the university’s vision of providing a personalized, transformative educational experience that positively impacts the lives of students and the communities it serves.

ÍøºìºÚÁÏ the Board

Established under Tennessee law as part of the University of Tennessee’s governance structure, the ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Advisory Board serves as an important advisory body supporting the university’s mission and strategic priorities. The Board is comprised of five public members appointed by the Governor of Tennessee and confirmed by the Tennessee General Assembly, as well as one faculty member and one student member who help ensure campus perspectives are represented in Board discussions and recommendations.

The Advisory Board’s responsibilities include providing recommendations regarding the university’s operating budget, tuition and fees, and strategic plan; advising the Chancellor on matters related to campus operations, academic programs, student life, policies, and facilities; and supporting the advancement of both ÍøºìºÚÁÏ and the University of Tennessee System. The Board may also provide guidance to the UT Board of Trustees and University leadership on matters affecting the campus and the broader system.

The Board conducts its work through regularly scheduled public meetings and operates in accordance with Tennessee law, University of Tennessee policies, and its adopted bylaws. Through collaboration, advocacy, and strategic counsel, the Advisory Board helps ensure that ÍøºìºÚÁÏ remains responsive to the needs of students, the region, and the state of Tennessee.
