PULASKI, Tenn. — University of Tennessee System President Randy Boyd joined members of the Boyd Founder’s Circle and former Martin Methodist College trustees at the ÍøºìºÚÁÏ on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for a luncheon celebrating the university’s fifth anniversary and the supporters who have made its growth possible.

When Martin Methodist College became ÍøºìºÚÁÏ in 2021, Boyd brought vision, leadership and energy to the UT System’s newest campus. He also made an exceptional personal commitment to its success, pledging to match up to $1 million in gifts to the Boyd Founder’s Circle.

The luncheon was held in Colonial Hall, the historic campus building where the Founder’s Circle was established five years ago. ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Chancellor Melinda Arnold, Vice Chancellor for Advancement Kyle Hensley and Boyd welcomed guests and thanked them for their continued investment in the university’s future.

“From the beginning, we believed in the incredible potential of this university to create new opportunities for students and strengthen communities across southern Middle Tennessee,â€ Boyd said. “None of that would be possible without the generosity and commitment of those who have believed in that vision and invested in its success. I am grateful for their support, and I truly believe the best is yet to come!â€

Arnold highlighted the programs, events and campus renovations ÍøºìºÚÁÏ has completed since its founding. She also unveiled plans for a new building that will allow the university to expand programs such as nursing and STEM and to offer students more opportunities to learn, grow and gain hands-on experience.

“Five years in, ÍøºìºÚÁÏ has become a major economic force in our region, and we would not be where we are today without the many community partners who support us,â€ Arnold said. “We will always honor the unique history of this campus, even as we keep our focus firmly on the future.â€

Milestone anniversaries provide an opportunity to celebrate achievements, but they also offer a chance to demonstrate impact. As the ÍøºìºÚÁÏ marks five years in the UT System, ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Stories highlights the people whose experiences reflect the University’s mission and the difference it is making every day.

Kasi Simms Hardison, ÍøºìºÚÁÏ Class of 2023, began her undergraduate collegiate career at then-Martin Methodist College (MMC) in 2019 as an English major with a concentration in literature. Hardison explains that among her higher education search, she immediately knew ÍøºìºÚÁÏ would become her new home once she toured campus.

“ÍøºìºÚÁÏ and Martin Methodist formed my future in more ways than I could possibly expect,â€ Hardison said.

Hardison’s favorite memory at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ, one that includes Instructor of English & ESL and Director of International Studies, Dr. Amy Little: participating in a fake snowball fight with students. She describes her experience at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ as “fun, community, happiness and support.â€

Expanding her comfort zone was something Hardison became accustomed to during her time at ÍøºìºÚÁÏ. Being encouraged by faculty to participate in events like singing at Carnegie Hall, speaking at commencement and running for student body are reasons Hardison believes have helped her become the person she is today.

“ÍøºìºÚÁÏ is a home. Yes, it’s a physical home, but it’s also a home for like-minded individuals who love Pulaski, who love the UT System, who love learning and people to come and be together,â€ Hardison said.
