Dunnavant teaches at Lipscomb University and Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music\, where she is the instructor for the Blair Academy flute students. She maintains a large private studio in metro Nashville. As a performer\, Dr. Dunnavant is a core member of the Jackson Symphony in West Tennessee and a frequent sub with other area groups. As a proponent of Historically Informed Performance\, she is the traverso and recorder player with Music City Baroque\, and in summer 2023\, along with several other area flute teachers\, she founded the Flute Society of Greater Nashville.
